The Arles Off Festival platform

Design, build and hosting of a multi-user portal for the 2021 edition, extended and enriched in 2022.

The Arles Off Festival platform

When a long-standing client specialising in fine art photography printing called us to relaunch the Arles Off Festival in 2021, we could hardly believe it. Above all, we could barely picture the scale of the ambition: a full portal for exhibitors, organisers and visitors, only weeks before opening.

The brief was complex, the sizing uncertain, the deadline already too close. The opportunity was too good to pass up: we took it on, determined to turn a risky bet into a reference platform.

One event, three audiences

arles-exposition.com is not a brochure site: it is a multi-user communication platform. Classic CMS features are extended with dedicated backends that let the festival's different players interact with the tool. Administrators, event organisers, photographers and visitors each get a simplified interface, limited to what concerns them.

Administrator backend: routes, metadata and content blocks.

Each page block is composed, translated and previewed from the interface, with no technical help. Contributors work autonomously, we stay at the platform level.

Content editing: blocks, translations and visibility per profile.

Securing the exchanges

A 2FA authentication base and a role management API secure the exchanges and compartmentalise usage: each profile only sees its own scope, each contribution stays traceable.

Three backends (administrator, organiser, visitor), one platform, and an experience designed for each role.

An architecture built to evolve

The project starts from a deliberately simple blueprint that quickly evolves. Front and back are separate, journeys are identified, management areas are in place: the foundation absorbs change without technical debt.

The technical foundation

We reuse an in-house framework already proven on many projects (Polymex, Xavier David, Majestic Villa Services...). Its main advantage: integrating specific modules fast, without bloat, with well-oiled studio methods. The stack is LAMP + JavaScript, fast, solid, reliable and fully mastered, so the technical side never gets in the way. Hosting, already in place for other client solutions including e-commerce, stays with us.
